The home is owned by Bymead House Ltd. The Director, Susan Blacklock, is a qualified nurse with community nursing background, having worked as a District Nurse then Health Visitor.
The Registered Manager, Amy Blacklock, has a Level 5 in Health and Social Care as well as a BA(Hons) and MA. She is responsible for the day to day running of the home and ensuring that the needs and welfare of the residents are met.
The Manager is supported by two Deputy Managers. Both are experienced nurses responsible for the clinical management of the Home.
Bymead has a Registered Nurse on duty twenty-four hours a day to provide skilled and proactive nursing care.
A full-time Administrator assists in the day to day running of the office.
We are very proud of our successful Care Practitioner training programme, designed to upskill talented and compassionate carers. They provide support to the nurse and guide care staff to achieve and maintain high standards of care.
Staffing levels at Bymead House exceed staffing guidance and include the following:

- Kitchen Assistants
- Activities Coordinator
All staff receive on-going training and new staff complete a detailed induction process working a period of three month’s probation before being confirmed in post. Care Staff have completed or are working towards NVQ level 2 or 3 qualifications. The Care Staff provide a large part of the residents’ day to day general care and as such, only those persons able to demonstrate a genuine desire to care for the elderly are considered for this important position.
Bymead’s dog Rufus is a Fox Red Labrador and has enjoyed coming to Bymead since he was 8 weeks old – he is a popular and important member of the team with both staff and residents!
